6th Grade "Socials"
Middle School Events
Over the last several years, sixth grade "parties" have grown increasingly
popular. The reasoning for this can be summed up in one word..."Transition".
For a student, finally going to middle school means that they are beginning to
with before such as makeup, fashion, popularity and peer acceptance. This is
rarely an easy time, and its comes with its triumphs and heartaches.
For parents, this is a time when their girls and boys are rapidly becoming
young ladies and gentlemen. In a short matter of months, these students with
begin reflecting some of the influences that are placed upon them. They will
want different clothes, have new friends and start (if they aren't already)
listening to music that is growing more and more suggestive everyday.
And then there's the dancing.
The Sixth Grade is the most difficult grade when deciding what's appropriate at
a dance. Should the lights be off or on? Should slow dancing be allowed? How
is my son or daughter going to dance to today's music (not like on the music
videos I hope!!)? From conservative to liberal parents, this is the age group
school administrators have the most headaches over.
